Openreach FTTP New Service Self Install Help Guide
We look forward to providing you with your new FTTP service.
There are two pieces of equipment you'll need to get your service working on your activation date.
- An ONT (Optical Network Terminal) and its power supply, which is installed by Openreach. This should already be in your premises.
- A Router or Hub, often sent to you by your Service Provider, to enable your WiFi connection. If your Service Provider is supplying this, it should arrive in time for your activation date, and you can then connect it to the ONT.
To ensure everything is in place for your activation, please check the following 3 things:
Firstly, look inside your property to see if you have an ONT fitted, alongside its power cable.
The ONT is usually found near the entrance to your property and close to a power socket. What's an ONT? Great question. An ONT(Optical Network Terminal) is a small white Openreach branded box fitted inside the property. It connects your property to the full fibre network and it needs to be connected to a nearby power socket with its dedicated power supply. ONTs come in a few different shapes, sizes and types, but they're all white in colour and will have Openreach branding. Here are some pictures of what you are looking for:

Next, please ensure your ONT is powered ON at the plug socket and is also switched ON at the ON/OFF switch on the ONT. There is a power light on the ONT to confirm this.
Finally, please ensure the wires are correctly connected to your router/hub. If your router/hub hasn't arrived yet, don't worry - you can do this once it arrives. (If you need help, instructions for how to connect your router/hub will be included in the box it comes in.)
If it hasn't arrived by your activation date, then the Teleproject UK support desk team or your account manager will be able to follow this up for you. Make sure you're using the cables supplied with your new router/hub as any other cables may not be compatible.
