What is a 'modified' Mobile Phone ?

Hardware - Modified Products

Modified products are originally placed on the market in Europe, then imported to the UK and modified for the UK market. The only modifications made are as follows (not all modifications are made to each model of device):

• The removal of the original 2-pin Samsung charger and its replacement with a 3-pin Samsung of equivalent specification

• The replacement of existing firmware with an English firmware variant (or, if applicable, the configuration rather than replacement of firmware to enable English language options)

• The provision of a link to the English language User Guide for the product if one is not present (by means of the insertion of a card containing the URL of the link within the product box) The above modifications do not involve changing the battery of the device nor opening the device case for any operation.

All devices supplied are new unless specifically agreed (and clearly identified) otherwise. Box seals are broken and removed to allow the modifications above to be undertaken. Upon completion of the modifications the box is re-sealed with a seal which informs any reader of the exact modification(s) that have been carried out to the product.

Implications of the modifications Modified smartphones are functionally equivalent to the UK versions. Modified smartphones do get regular software updates, but not always at the same time as the UK updates. The latest models are more likely to have updates at the same time as the UK because they use multi-region firmware.

Grey stock Please note this is NOT “grey stock”. Our supplier has entered into an agreement with Samsung and regularly send product samples to them for Quality Assurance (QA).
